The gang is at it again! They’ve been going crazy with all the beach vacations and decided that third time’s the charm. This time they decided to hit the sunny beaches of Goa, India!
As usual there was a little something that each girl wanted to do, Mahira with her sports, Gayathri wanted some culture, and Rachita and Asmita needed a shopping spree.
Scuba Grandeur at Grand Island
Mahira being a certified Scuba Diver insisted that the girls make this a part of their itinerary for the trip. After a lot of struggle, the girls finally relented. But they were glad they did. Life below the surface truly is better. The girls did what is known as a fun dive where after a little preparation the girls were ready to do a deep dive with their instructor. They saw umpteen amounts of corals, colourful fish and various types of marine life. And once they were done they were craving for more. They spent a lot of time post the dive, in snorkeling around the area. They truly soaked in the beauty of the underwater world and got a good dose of vitamin sea!
The Portuguese Colony
For about 450 years, Goa was under Portuguese rule. This meant that were many cultural sites for the girls to explore during their time in Goa. They spent one lazy afternoon exploring Old Goa at their own pace. Having never been to the cultural part of Goa, exploring the various churches and convents, especially the Bom Jesus Basilica was a very different experience for them. The remains of St. Francis Xavier left them in awe. They also spent time checking out a few forts and finished their day with a cultural evening in a local restaurant. This was a day that will surely be etched in their memory for a long time.
You cannot come to Goa and not visit one of their numerous markets. From hippie clothing, junk jewelry, different types of cashew nuts to Feni, Goa has it all! The girls made sure they visited all the must- do shopping sites in Goa. Out of all the markets-night,street.local, and traditional- in Goa, Mapusa was the girls' favourite. It was the perfect way to experience local Goan culture. Here the traders sell everything from spices, to clothes and all kinds of fruits nuts and alcohol.
Apart from this they also picked up some beautiful tile art work that is native to Goa!
All in all, it was the perfect mix of a holiday!
As per usual! ;)
The girls are at it again! And this time it’s beautiful Bali!
This trip was definitely one of their most unplanned trips. Mahira was moping around for a few weeks, due to some recent breakup, but it was different than usual and the girls noticed this. No boy had ever affected her in this manner before. Then, one night after the consumption of way too much alcohol, she reluctantly told the girls her secret. She had booked a holiday to Bali with her now ex-boyfriend for the following month and now she felt like a fool. The poor thing!
The girls didn’t waste any time. Within a week, they had planned their itinerary to match hers, of course with a few differences, and booked all their stay and travel. They we ready for an ultimate girls trip!
One Introvert. One Extrovert. One Sentimental Fool. One Loud Mouth. 4 Best Friends.
Numerous trips around the world.
Meet Rachita: The Introvert
Rachita is a quiet individual and someone who doesn’t make friends easily. But what can be misinterpreted as ego is just a hard shell to crack, below which there is an abundance of love, laughter and fun.
Meet Gayathri: The Extrovert
Gayathri is someone who seems like she’s got life all figured out. She’s very clear on her career and life goals, and doesn’t really show emotion on issues which seem petty to her. An expert at mind games when it comes to the opposite sex, she is the perfect best friend to have around when you’re knee deep in some boy trouble.
Meet Mahira: The Sentimental Fool
Mahira is the sports enthusiast who plays and follows multiple sports. She is also someone who wears her heart on her sleeve. Whether she’s happy or sad, you’ll know it immediately. She gets very emotional but is also a dude at heart. The female mind, huh? Go figure!
Meet Asmita: The Extroverted Introvert
Asmita is someone who is very outgoing and friendly but to get into her inner circle of trust is quite the challenge. She is also the “mommy” of the group who loves things to go accordingly to plan and taking care of the others. But, don’t be fooled, once she lets her hair down she is definitely the wild one of the group!
Four girls from different cities were brought together under different circumstances and became the best of friends.
The Flip Flop Life- Phuket
The plan for Phuket came about just like all other great plans do- one Valentine’s night that the girls were spending together doing things their mothers wouldn’t be proud of. Amidst all the drunken talk about lost loves and boy drama, a girls only trip to an island destination seemed absolutely perfect.
Sea, sun, sand and each other? The girls couldn’t wait!
Stay & Getting Around
Luckily for the girls, Phuket has an abundance of resorts and hotels to choose from. Being such a famous vacation destination there are hotels of all categories and price ranges. So even though they booked a small hotel in town, it was just a hop skip and jump away from Phuket’s pristine beaches.
Once they were settled in the girls decided to begin their fabulous holiday. After getting ripped off by taxis, they figured the best way to get around Phuket was by hiring scooters. And this was their best decision yet.
Colourful and chaotic streets, locals selling food in the town and an abundance of culture and history was few of the many things they experienced in town. And enjoying all these sights and feels at their own pace with your own transport, made the experience that much better!
Travel Tip: Take photos and videos of the bikes before you rent them so as to avoid any tiffs and misunderstandings with the owner later.
Abundance of things to do
The girls being so different had a very tough time deciding what to do. But, probably one of the best things about Phuket is that there is something to do for everyone. So luckily for the girls, Phuket had them covered!
To begin their holiday, they started with a half day tour of Phuket Island. They took a drive around Phuket Town soaking up its historical air and visited the Wat Chalong temple and admired the view from Promthep Cape. Mahira being the sporty kind, got everyone to explore Thailand’s largest national park, with an elephant safari and canoe tour at Khao Sok .
The girls made time one evening and made sure that they went for a cabaret show, one better known experiences of Thailand. Other experiences they tried out include Mae Ping River Cruise, a visit to Similan Island and Phang Nga Bay Tour.
Downtime in the Sun
One of the most important things on a girls trip is bonding., and bond they did!
A margarita, a good book, a cute bikini and the best company is the perfect combination for some rest and relaxation by the beach! The girls definitely kept this in mind when they hit Phuket’s beaches.
The phrase “sun, sand and sea” isn’t popular without reason. A combination of these three factors is known to have a calming and soothing effect the body and mind. Some R&R was definitely on the menu on the girls’ holiday. They spent endless evenings on the beach, just lounging on beach chairs, taking dips in the ocean and talking.
No matter how different the girls are, one thing they all had in common is their love for shopping. They visited Phuket’s variety of malls like Jungceylon, Central Festival Phuket and Banana Walk.
And then on another day when they were looking for a more local experience which was easy on the pockets, they hot the weekend market at Talad Tairod, Phuket Walking Street, Banzaan (fresh produce) market at Patong and Karon Bazaar.
Last but definitely not the least the ladies fished out those LBDs and hit the town!
It is well known that Thailand is known for its nightlife, and Phuket has a well deserving place in this as well. After spending a day relaxing at the beach in the sun, partying the night away seemed like the only solution for the gang.
They took those high heels and strutted them over to Bangla Road in Patong to truly experience Phuket’s nightlife. This is the part of the city that comes alive when the sun sets! Its bright neon lights, young party going crowd, international DJs and fantastic clubs will get anyone into the mood for revelry.
And it so happened that one of the girls met a cute guy and began an epic romance! Here’s where booking an extra room at their hotel came in handy ;)
