The Flip Flop Life- Phuket
The plan for Phuket came about just like all other great plans do- one Valentine’s night that the girls were spending together doing things their mothers wouldn’t be proud of. Amidst all the drunken talk about lost loves and boy drama, a girls only trip to an island destination seemed absolutely perfect.
Sea, sun, sand and each other? The girls couldn’t wait!
Stay & Getting Around
Luckily for the girls, Phuket has an abundance of resorts and hotels to choose from. Being such a famous vacation destination there are hotels of all categories and price ranges. So even though they booked a small hotel in town, it was just a hop skip and jump away from Phuket’s pristine beaches.
Once they were settled in the girls decided to begin their fabulous holiday. After getting ripped off by taxis, they figured the best way to get around Phuket was by hiring scooters. And this was their best decision yet.
Colourful and chaotic streets, locals selling food in the town and an abundance of culture and history was few of the many things they experienced in town. And enjoying all these sights and feels at their own pace with your own transport, made the experience that much better!
Travel Tip: Take photos and videos of the bikes before you rent them so as to avoid any tiffs and misunderstandings with the owner later.
Abundance of things to do
The girls being so different had a very tough time deciding what to do. But, probably one of the best things about Phuket is that there is something to do for everyone. So luckily for the girls, Phuket had them covered!
To begin their holiday, they started with a half day tour of Phuket Island. They took a drive around Phuket Town soaking up its historical air and visited the Wat Chalong temple and admired the view from Promthep Cape. Mahira being the sporty kind, got everyone to explore Thailand’s largest national park, with an elephant safari and canoe tour at Khao Sok .
The girls made time one evening and made sure that they went for a cabaret show, one better known experiences of Thailand. Other experiences they tried out include Mae Ping River Cruise, a visit to Similan Island and Phang Nga Bay Tour.
Downtime in the Sun
One of the most important things on a girls trip is bonding., and bond they did!
A margarita, a good book, a cute bikini and the best company is the perfect combination for some rest and relaxation by the beach! The girls definitely kept this in mind when they hit Phuket’s beaches.
The phrase “sun, sand and sea” isn’t popular without reason. A combination of these three factors is known to have a calming and soothing effect the body and mind. Some R&R was definitely on the menu on the girls’ holiday. They spent endless evenings on the beach, just lounging on beach chairs, taking dips in the ocean and talking.
No matter how different the girls are, one thing they all had in common is their love for shopping. They visited Phuket’s variety of malls like Jungceylon, Central Festival Phuket and Banana Walk.
And then on another day when they were looking for a more local experience which was easy on the pockets, they hot the weekend market at Talad Tairod, Phuket Walking Street, Banzaan (fresh produce) market at Patong and Karon Bazaar.
Last but definitely not the least the ladies fished out those LBDs and hit the town!
It is well known that Thailand is known for its nightlife, and Phuket has a well deserving place in this as well. After spending a day relaxing at the beach in the sun, partying the night away seemed like the only solution for the gang.
They took those high heels and strutted them over to Bangla Road in Patong to truly experience Phuket’s nightlife. This is the part of the city that comes alive when the sun sets! Its bright neon lights, young party going crowd, international DJs and fantastic clubs will get anyone into the mood for revelry.
And it so happened that one of the girls met a cute guy and began an epic romance! Here’s where booking an extra room at their hotel came in handy ;)
